The library is a college student’s best companion for studying, relaxing, or sparking creativity. Since its establishment at the founding of Kaohsiung Polytechnic Institute, the library has evolved in terms of facilities, environment, and programming. This event aims to help faculty members and students better understand the diverse functions of the library and encourage greater use of its resources.

The development of the library has been closely intertwined with ISU’s growth. Key milestones in the library’s history are as follows:
August 1990
Kaohsiung Polytechnic Institute was founded, and the library was established on the 4th floor of the Student Activity Center.
May 1993
The library adopted the Dynix Automated Library System.
August 1997
Kaohsiung Polytechnic Institute was restructured as I-Shou University, and the library was relocated to a new building, the Science and Technology Building, spanning four floors (“the Main Library”).
June 1999
The periodicals section was expanded, and a new learning center combining computers and audiovisual facilities was added.
September 2006
A branch was established at the Yanchao Campus to align with ISU’s expansion.
September 2009
The International College Library was established.
August 2012
The library merged with the Computer Center to form the Office of Library and Information Services.
August 2013
In line with the establishment of the College of Medicine, the branch at the Yanchao Campus was renamed the Medical Campus Library.
January 2016
The library system was upgraded to Aleph 500.
April 2018
The 3rd floor and study rooms of the Medical Campus Library were renovated and expanded.
June 2019
The Learning Center was integrated into the Main Library, and the 3rd floor of the Main Library in the Science and Technology Building was renovated.
